MCP server

Check SSL, DNS and uptime from Claude and ChatGPT

Ask your AI assistant whether a certificate is about to expire, whether a site is down or what its DNS records say, and get a live answer from TinyPing's checkers. TinyPing runs a free MCP server: MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI assistants use to call tools like these. No account needed.

Server address

Free tools, no sign-in. Streamable HTTP transport.

https://app.tinyping.ai/mcp/tools

The tools

Five read-only checks, the same ones behind TinyPing's free tools. Each answer leads with the verdict, keeps the exact numbers, and links to the full report.

ToolWhat it checksTry asking
check_sslSSL certificate: valid or not, expiry date and days left, issuer, missing intermediate certificate, hostname match."Is the SSL certificate on shop.example.com set up correctly?"
check_domain_expiryDomain registration: registrar, expiry date and days left, nameservers, status codes."When does example.com expire, and who is the registrar?"
check_websiteWhether a URL is up: HTTP status, redirects, and time for DNS, connect, TLS and first byte."Is example.com down right now?"
lookup_dnsDNS records (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, CAA, SOA) with their TTLs."Show me the MX and TXT records for example.com."
check_email_securityEmail authentication: SPF (with the 10-lookup limit), DMARC policy, optional DKIM selector, and what to fix."Can someone send email pretending to be example.com?"

Connect your assistant

Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app)

Open Settings, then Connectors, and add a custom connector. Name it TinyPing and paste the server address above.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http tinyping https://app.tinyping.ai/mcp/tools

ChatGPT

Where your plan allows custom connectors (developer mode), add a new connector with the server address above. No authentication is needed.

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tinyping": {
      "url": "https://app.tinyping.ai/mcp/tools"
    }
  }
}

VS Code

Add this to .vscode/mcp.json in your project:

{
  "servers": {
    "tinyping": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://app.tinyping.ai/mcp/tools"
    }
  }
}

Any other MCP client

Use the Streamable HTTP transport with the server address above. It answers JSON-RPC over POST and needs no session or API key.

Limits and how it works

  • Checks run from TinyPing's servers, against public addresses only.
  • Results are cached for 30 seconds to an hour, depending on the check, so repeated questions are fast.
  • There is a daily limit shared by everyone using the server, and a limit per network. When it is reached, the answer says so and the checks keep working on tinyping.ai/tools.
  • An answer is one check at one moment. To know the moment a site goes down, TinyPing monitors it every 5 minutes.

Coming soon: your own TinyPing account

A second server at https://app.tinyping.ai/mcp will let you ask about your own monitors: "Which client sites were down this week?", "What was our uptime last month?", "Which certificates expire before December?". You sign in once from your assistant, choose a workspace and approve read access. It can read monitors, incidents, uptime and expiry dates, and cannot change anything or see alert contacts, billing or your team. You can disconnect it any time on the Team page.

Privacy

The address you ask about is checked the same way as on our free tools. We record which tool was called and when, never what was checked. Details are in the privacy policy.

Know before your clients do

TinyPing checks every client site every 5 minutes, watches SSL certificates and domains, and alerts your team by email, Slack or Google Chat. 7-day free trial, no card.
